Design 3

I use three different wood finishes. They are -

Wood, which is sanded and then left unsealed.
I use this for kitchen utensils, tool handles,
breadboards, porridge spurtles, rolling pins etc.
The more you handle the object the better the
surface will feel. The wood can be washed in
warm water and then dried. It will develop a
wonderful natural finish.

Wood, which is sanded and then sealed with
a coat of good quality sunflower oil.
It is then coated with either bees wax or paraffin
wax as the turning revolves on the lathe.
This is not a durable finish.
As the object is used the finish will wear off -
but it can be renewed by an occasional wipe of oil.
